(Make sure to read the whole thing, as to not miss out on anything)
Hello All Dimensions Wiki users, this is an announcement concerning the creation of pages and the enforcement of rules as we move forth.
Beginning from the date of 1/3/2021, new pages will be made using the blog post function. This decision was affirmed thanks to the poll on the wiki’s discord receiving an overwhelming majority of votes for this system (27|2). The creation of pages itself will still be available, but bad articles will be turned into blog posts manually.
If your article follows the guidelines, the blog post will be moved to mainspace. If it doesn’t, it will remain as a blog post. This allows users to keep their articles which don’t fall under the guidelines, without them getting deleted, new users will be able to actually test the waters and practice making pages without the fear of deletions or forced editing, and since this rule also applies to all users, not just new users, but also admins and mods, they will be held to the same standards.
If a blog post of sub-guideline quality gets updated to fall under said guidelines, it can be turned into a page.
Through this system, bad articles won’t clutter the wiki, since they won’t be in mainspace, but will also be allowed to exist in their own right.
If your blog post article doesn’t get noticed by a moderator/admin, simply message one with the link to your blog post article.
Q: Will old articles get turned into blogs?
A: No, only new ones.
Q: Why was this system all of a sudden chosen, when we already have the new one?
A: The more detailed explanation was written above, however, simply put, many new users are leaving the wiki, as this current system demands people to instantly be good at making articles, whilst not allowing the betterment and progression of one’s writing style, without the threat of an article deletion.
Q: I am fully aware of the guidelines and follow them, why must I also wait for my blogs to be turned into articles?
A: We can not make exceptions and exemptions from the rules, as this can be very easily misused and abused. Not that it is guaranteed that you will misuse it, but gathering experience from another affiliate wiki, and just general fairness, this sort of “VIP pass” through the blog rule will only result in a net-negative in the long run.
Q: Well, what if I just slide my page into mainspace?
A: It’ll be moved back into a blog. It’s a very easy process to do.
Q: But what if the page is already good enough but was put into mainspace?
A: Each page, regardless of whether it was created first as a blog or not, will be looked at and either turned into a blog post, or be turned into a mainspace article. If someone posts a page, which is determined to be good as it is, directly as a mainspace one, it will remain as an article. (though this is very discouraged)
Q: Are moderators/admins immune to this?
How the guidelines will be changed:
The actual quality standards required for each article to pass won’t be affected, however, there may be a couple concerning blog posts in general:
Articles are to be written as blog posts (trivial)
Blog posts aren’t to be upgraded to mainspace by non-moderators (may result in page deletion if done excessively)
Refrain from posting articles to mainspace, even though they may be well off as they are
Sincerely, The ✯AD✯ moderation team.
TL;DR: If you want to create an article, create a blog post, if it's good then it will be turned into a page, if it's not then it will remain as a blog post
