A country is a distinct part of a planet, such as a state, nation, or other political entity. They are populated by humans on Earth and by intelligent life on other planets. Countries are controlled by a government and they have an economy.
Countries have flags and national anthems, which are used to identify them.
On Earth, it is estimated that there is around ~195 countries.
