Quarks are the building blocks of protons and neutrons, and are part of the elementary particles. However, these protons and neutrons are constructed from only 2 of the 12 known quarks, being up quarks and down quarks.

The 12 Types of Quarks

There are 12 main types of quarks, being split into 6 particles made of matter and 6 particles made of antimatter, with each of these halves being split into three 'generations'. Here is a list of the 12 known kinds of quarks:

First Generation
